Mission Statement
The mission of the Kirkland Community Fire Protection District is, and has always been to protect the lives and property of the people in the Kirkland Community and others to the best of our ability.
The Kirkland Community Fire Protection District will continue it's efforts to improve itself and uphold the long tradition of progressive emergency service to the community we serve.
About Us
The Kirkland Community Fire Protection District was formally organized, establishing it as a taxing body in 1954. It covers approximately 80 square miles. The district is bound to the north and west by the Dekalb County Lines, to the south by Illinois Rt. 64, to the easy by Annie Glidden Road.
Members of the Kirkland Firefighters Association staff the Department. The association is made up of volunteers primarily from within the district.
The department provided only fire protection until 1980 when the first EMTs and ambulance went into service. EMT service is currently at the basic level.
In 1998 the station moved to it's present location from stations located on the 6th Street in Kirkland and from another small station located in Fairdale.
The department has progressed steadily for over five decades and will continue to do so thanks to the public's support and the efforts of all Trustees, Officers, and Members Past, Present, and Future.
We pledge to uphold the highest standards of fire prevention, emergency response, and community education. Through continuous training, state-of-the-art equipment, and collaboration with local community, we strive to provide prompt, effective, and compassionate care in times of crisis.
Our firefighters are not only highly skilled professionals but also trusted members of the community, ensuring that every interaction reflects our core values of respect, integrity, and empathy.
We are dedicated to proactive fire safety education, empowering individuals and families to mitigate risks and make informed decisions to protect themselves and their loved ones.
By fostering a culture of preparedness, we aim to reduce the impact of emergencies and create a resilient community that stands strong in the face of adversity.
The Department staffs 2 BLS ambulances that are ALS upgradable, 2 Engines, 1 Tender, 1 Brush, 1 Squad, and a command vehicle.
Kirkland Community Fire District is a member of MABAS Division 6. The District is staffed by dedicated volunteers, as well as a full time Fire Chief.
As stewards of public trust, we are committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. We actively seek feedback from the community we serve, valuing their input and striving to exceed their expectations.
Our commitment extends beyond emergencies, as we actively participate in community events, engage in outreach initiatives, and collaborate with other agencies to enhance the overall well-being of our residents.
Together, as a united family, we stand ready to face any challenge, overcome any obstacle, and ensure the safety and security of our community.
With pride in our heritage and determination for a safer future, we honor our legacy of service while embracing innovation and adaptation to meet the evolving needs of our community.
